1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

Inspirational Bible Verses for stress, despair and trials

Posted by Barbara on Feb 14, 2010

Here is a list of inspirational bible verses that are a great source of comfort in the midst of a trial, difficult circumstances, hardship or in times of stress.

God bless you!

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
(Psalm 27:1-3, New King James Version)

Valentine’s Day is celebrated as a day of romantic love. We have visions of red long-stemmed roses, chocolates, Cupid, red velvet cupcakes and romantic dinners. Whether or not you are the recipient of any of these gestures you ARE loved. We can all receive the greatest love ever from the One who IS Love and to love others in return. Inspirational bible verses show us the amazing love that God has for us and how He calls us to love others.

Inspirational Bible Verses When a Loved One is Dying

Posted by Barbara on Jan 8, 2010

Do you have a loved one who is facing death? Are you looking for inspirational bible verses to comfort and strengthen you or your loved one during this time?  I have been there.  The God of all Comfort and His living, powerful and active Word gently, lovingly and sweetly soothed my deepest pains.  In my moments of weakness, remembering His truths provided the reassurance, the comfort and the strength that I needed. These are true for all that are reconciled to Him through Christ Jesus. May some of these truths also minister to you.

Happy New Year!  Have you made your New Year resolutions? We usually make noble resolutions. We determine to be kinder, to be more patient, to live a healthier lifestyle and to ensure that our lives are aligned with our priorities.  You may consider using inspirational bible verses as the basis for some of your resolutions.  I am considering the verse “Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God” (1 Chronicles 22:19).

Inspirational Bible Verses – Why celebrate Christmas?

Posted by Barbara on Dec 25, 2009

gift_1024x768 croppedWhy celebrate Christmas? Several years ago I remember saying to Daddy that Christmas is not about expensive gift giving. He was somewhat hopeful as he gently challenged me….”so what is Christmas all about?”  He hid his disappointment as I mumbled something to the effect of it being about spending quality time with family and friends. I knew what it should be about, but at that time it had little meaning to me. I loved the “cool” Christmas breeze in Jamaica. I looked forward to the “get-togethers” with family and friends. I looked forward to the cute Christmas plays depicting the birth of Jesus. I looked forward to the office parties that were so many in the month of December that we often had more than one to attend on a weekday night.  I loved the Jamaican traditional meals that would be sure to include ham flavored with brown sugar, mustard, cloves and pineapple, potato salad, gungo rice and peas. I loved the Christmas cakes and puddings.  I looked forward to drinking sorrel flavored with ginger. Who wouldn’t love Christmas?

Inspirational Bible Verses – Rejoice for Jehovah Shammah

Posted by Barbara on Dec 6, 2009

…and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.” Ezekiel 48:35b

bird over water

Jehovah Shammah! The LORD is there! Earlier Ezekiel warned the exiles already in Babylon of imminent judgment. He warned that the glory of the LORD will depart from the temple and that Jerusalem will fall into the hands of the Babylonians. The warnings of the prophets fell on deaf ears as the people remembered the promises of God, but forgot that these promises were conditional and were only applicable if they were obedient. After Jerusalem falls to the Babylonians, Ezekiel now tells of God’s plan for restoration and as he describes the New Jerusalem in painstaking details, he ends with God’s promise that the glory of the Lord, this glory that had previously departed, will be there. He delivers a message of hope. God punishes sin but He has a plan for restoration. What an inspirational bible verse! What a promise!
